Annie Sweeney, Derry Resident and Former Strabane Native, Dies at 33
Annie Sweeney (née Mc Elroy), a resident of 33 Garden City, Derry, and formerly of Strabane, passed away on April 1st, 2026, at the age of 33. She is remembered as a beloved wife, mother, and sister.
Family and Background
Mrs. Sweeney was the wife of the late John Sweeney. She is survived by her children, Mary, John, Gerard, and Anne, as well as her sisters, Nuala and Zita. She was predeceased by her siblings, Bridget, Peggy, Danny, Denis, John, and Pat.
Funeral Arrangements
Reposing will take place at her home on Saturday, April 4th, beginning at 2 p.m. The funeral will commence on Monday, April 6th, at 9:30 a.m., departing from her home for Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, Pennyburn, at 10 a.m. Following the Mass, interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Melmount, Strabane.
