Anthony Sinisuka Ginting Advances to Swiss Open 2026 Quarterfinals

Basel – Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia secured his place in the quarterfinals of the Swiss Open 2026, defeating Wang Zheng Xing in straight games. The Round of 16 match took place at St. Jakobshalle on March 12, 2026.

Match Highlights

Ginting started strongly, winning five consecutive points to establish a 5-2 lead in the first game. Whereas Wang Zheng Xing managed to equalize at 7-7, Ginting regained the advantage, leading 11-8 at the interval.

After the interval, Wang narrowed the gap to 10-11, and subsequently tied the score at both 12-12 and 13-13. However, Ginting responded with three consecutive points, extending his lead to 16-13. He reached game point at 20-15 and ultimately won the first game 21-15.

The second game saw Ginting take an early 3-point lead, moving to 6-3. Wang equalized at 7-7 and briefly took the lead at 8-7, capitalizing on Ginting’s errors. The score was level again at 10-10 before Ginting edged ahead, leading 11-10 at the second interval.

Ginting accelerated after the interval, building a 5-point lead at 16-11. He reached match point at 20-15, and despite Wang reducing the deficit to 16-20, Ginting closed out the match with a 21-16 victory.

Path to the Quarterfinals

With this win, Anthony Ginting joins compatriot Alwi Farhan in the quarterfinals, who previously defeated Jason Teh Jia 21-17, 22-20.
