Anthony Gordon open to leaving Newcastle as Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich circle Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has confirmed his desire to leave St James’ Park this summer, with interest building from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich as the transfer window approaches. The 25-year-old England international joined Newcastle from Everton in the summer of 2023 for a reported £45 million. Since then, he has made 152 appearances for the Magpies, scoring 39 goals and providing 28 assists across all competitions. Despite a promising start to his Newcastle career, Gordon’s influence has waned in recent months, mirroring the club’s broader struggles. He has scored just six Premier League goals this season, adding two assists, while contributing ten goals in the Champions League. Newcastle currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, increasing pressure on manager Eddie Howe. Reports indicate Gordon is keen to resolve his future before the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which begins in June. Although he has not formally submitted a transfer request, sources close to the club suggest he will actively seek a move away during the summer window. Liverpool have emerged as a leading destination for Gordon, who has long expressed admiration for the club and grew up as a supporter. The Reds were reportedly close to signing him in 2024 before he signed a new long-term contract with Newcastle. With Hugo Ekitike sidelined for nine months following an Achilles injury against Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool are once said to be seriously considering a bid for the winger. Arsenal have also been linked with Gordon, with the club said to have held internal discussions about a potential transfer. Bayern Munich have reportedly prepared a £55 million offer, though Newcastle are understood to value the player significantly higher. Newcastle’s hierarchy is said to be bracing for offers when the window opens, not only for Gordon but also for other key players including Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, Tino Livramento, and Lewis Hall, all of whom have attracted interest from Premier League and European clubs. While Gordon has not publicly confirmed his intention to leave, the feeling inside St James’ Park is that he will pursue a move this summer, with the club preparing for early bids as he aims to settle his future before international duty begins.
