Anthropic to Expand Dublin Presence with 200 New Jobs

US artificial intelligence (AI) company Anthropic is significantly expanding its operations in Dublin, Ireland, with plans to create an additional 200 jobs by 2027. This expansion reflects strong demand for its AI services in Europe and will see the company increase its office space six-fold.

European Headquarters and Growth

Anthropic established its European headquarters in Dublin in 2024 and is now set to grow its Irish headcount to nearly 300 employees. The company is increasing its office space to 21,000 square feet in a central Dublin location to accommodate the new hires [Irish Times].

New Roles Across Multiple Departments

The 200 new roles will span various departments, including engineering, sales, finance, legal and compliance, and operations [RTÉ]. Currently open positions include a Staff Software Engineer with a potential salary of up to €355,000 and a Sales Development Manager with a salary of up to €225,000.

Driven by Demand for Claude

Anthropic attributes the expansion to an eleven-fold increase in its EMEA revenue, fueled by businesses adopting its AI tool, Claude. Claude has recently gained popularity, even topping the free iPhone apps chart in Ireland [RTÉ].

Navigating US Government Scrutiny

While expanding in Europe, Anthropic is also facing scrutiny in the United States. The company recently filed a lawsuit against the US government, contesting claims that it poses a “supply chain risk” [MSN]. This legal action followed disagreements with the Pentagon regarding the leverage of Anthropic’s technology for mass surveillance or autonomous weapons systems.
