Anthropic Valuation Soars to $380 Billion – Claude AI Boosts Growth

The American artificial intelligence (AI) start-up Anthropic, publisher of the Claude model, said Thursday February 12 in a press release that it is now worth 380 billion dollars after a massive new fundraising of 30 billion. The San Francisco company, rival of OpenAI and its ChatGPT model, sees its valuation more than double in five months, after the conclusion of this funding round led by the Singaporean sovereign fund GIC and the hedge fund Coatue Management.

The company declares that it now generates “annualized turnover” of 14 billion dollars, without specifying the reference period, an indicator that is nevertheless closely followed given the questions about the profitability of the costly race to AI. This financial performance, says Anthropic, “is carried by [sa] position as preferred AI platform for businesses and developers ».

Claude Code, its flagship tool for developers deployed in May 2025, generates annualized revenue of $2.5 billion, according to the company which claims to have eight of the ten largest American companies in the ranking of Fortune among its customers. “Professional subscriptions to Claude Code have quadrupled since the start of 2026”says the press release.

Prestigious investors bet on Anthropic

The funding round, according to the press release, attracted a long list of renowned investors, including the BlackRock fund, the banks Goldman Sachs and JPMorganChase as well as the tech giants Microsoft and Nvidia, the world leader in chips for AI.

This new capital contribution should allow the start-up led by Dario and Daniela Amodei, brother and sister, to finance its computing infrastructures, in the midst of an explosion in data center construction to power and cool the latest generation chips.

On February 5, Anthropic already announced plans to invest $50 billion in data centers to support the power of its latest model, Claude Opus 4.6, released to the public on February 5. However, Anthropic’s valuation remains lower than that of its great rival OpenAI, which announced in February that it was planning a funding round of $800 billion.

The San Francisco start-up, founded in 2021 by OpenAI alumni, has been on the rise since the delivery in a few months of a series of tools which impressed IT developers and frightened shareholders of software publishers. It has focused its strategy on building a reputation for security and reliability where ChatGPT has so far won the battle for mass adoption by the general public.

Silicon Valley and the financial markets are feverishly awaiting the formalization of the two rivals’ IPO plans, expected this year.
