AP-HP Expands Specialized Sexual and Reproductive Health Services
The Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) is enhancing access to specialized care for a range of sexual and reproductive health needs, including adolescent gynecology, pelvi-perineal disorders, support for individuals with disabilities, and menopause management. These services aim to provide comprehensive and personalized care to patients across various life stages and with diverse health challenges.
Specialized Care for Adolescents and Young Adults
The medical gynecology department at Hôpital Bicêtre, led by Dr. Lise Duranteau, offers specialized gynecological care for young women aged 12 to 25. This unit focuses on providing care for those with chronic illnesses, rare diseases, or a history of childhood cancer treatment. The GYNHEMO program specifically aims to improve the quality of life and sexuality for these young women, while likewise addressing potential impacts of illness and treatment on future pregnancies.
Dr. Duranteau can be contacted at Doctolib and her contact information is available through the hospital: 01 45 21 21 21. Her email is lise.duranteau@aphp.fr.
Addressing Pelvi-Perineal Disorders
Hôpital Antoine-Béclère provides treatment for pelvi-perineal disorders, including urinary, anorectal, and painful sexual issues, often linked to pregnancy complications or gynecological cancer treatments. Personalized care pathways, overseen by Professor Deffieux, utilize techniques such as rehabilitation, vaginal laser therapy, radiofrequency, pessaries, botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid injections, and robot-assisted surgery.
Gynecological Care for Women with Disabilities
A dedicated gynecology consultation, “Handigynéco,” has been established at the obstetrics and gynecology department of Hôpital Antoine-Béclère, in collaboration with Raymond-Poincaré hospital (Professor Denys’ department) and Dr. Tuil. This initiative aims to provide coordinated gynecological care tailored to the specific needs of women with disabilities.
Supporting Women Through Menopause
The “Menopause Club,” led by Professor Ceccaldi at Hôpital Beaujon, offers support and information to women navigating menopause. A dedicated website provides resources for both women and healthcare professionals, covering symptoms, treatments, and guidance throughout the menopausal journey, starting from age 45.
AP-HP Sexual Health Centers
The AP-HP has established several centers dedicated to sexual health, offering services such as contraception information, STI screening, psychosocial support, and assistance with marital and family relationship difficulties.
