Apple is actively developing an AI-powered wearable, currently referred to as the “AI Pin,” poised to redefine hands-free interaction with technology. Unlike existing smartwatches or fitness trackers, the AI Pin is envisioned as a screenless device, relying on voice, vision, and contextual awareness to seamlessly integrate into daily life. Whereas still in the experimental phase, with a potential launch as early as 2027, the AI Pin represents Apple’s boldest step yet into the realm of ambient computing.

Design and Form Factor

The AI Pin is anticipated to be approximately the size of an AirTag, though slightly thicker to accommodate its internal hardware. Its design centers around a thin, flat, circular disc constructed with an aluminum and glass shell. A physical control button is integrated along one edge for user interaction. Apple intends to offer accessories like a clip for attaching the pin to clothing or bags, and a necklace option utilizing a hole at the top of the device. Like the Apple Watch, the AI Pin will feature wireless charging capabilities.

Core Technologies: Camera and Visual Intelligence

A key component of the AI Pin is its camera system. Reports indicate varying approaches to camera functionality. Bloomberg suggests a low-resolution camera primarily for gathering environmental information, not for capturing traditional photos or videos.
