Apple schedules Pro and Tell event for October 28
Apple will host an all-day product launch event dubbed “Pro and tell” on October 28 in Los Angeles, bringing a second October hardware showcase following the introduction of the HomeView home hub earlier in the month. Greg Joswiak, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple, announced the upcoming presentation in a post on X, sharing a video of an Apple logo being drawn. Bloomberg Managing Editor Mark Gurman noted on X that the video shows a finger touching a screen and drawing on it, pointing toward expected updates to the MacBook Pro lineup.
Touch-Screen MacBook Pros and OLED Displays Lead Hardware Expectations
Analysts expect the October 28 showcase to introduce Apple’s first touch-screen MacBook Pro models, marking a strategic shift for a company that has long maintained a separation between the iPad and Mac user experiences. The upcoming touch-screen MacBook Pros are slated to feature a Dynamic Island interface akin to iPhone models, a sharper OLED display, and M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, according to Bloomberg. The updated MacBook Pros will also include configurations powered by the M6 chip. Furthermore, the refreshed MacBook Pros will be lighter and thinner than current hardware, with the weight reduction most noticeable on the 16-inch model, which weighs up to 2.15 kilograms.

Alongside the flagship portables, Apple is expected to reveal a refreshed iMac and a redesigned iPad mini featuring an OLED screen. The new iPad mini is anticipated to sport an 8.4-inch LTPS rear panel with hybrid OLED and a 60Hz refresh rate. Designers plan to shift the selfie camera on the upcoming tablet so that video calls are better suited for landscape use.
This hardware slate arrives as Apple expands its artificial intelligence offerings, Reuters reported. The company recently announced a collaboration with Meta to run an open-weight frontier model on desktop hardware using Meta’s Muse Spark Open model paired with two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios and the MLX framework.
Event Logistics and Prior Product Rollouts
Apple sent email invitations to media and analysts for the Los Angeles gathering under the “Pro and tell” banner, CNBC reported. According to the report, John Ternus is leading his third product launch event in the CEO role, following prior showcases centered on new iPhones and smart home devices.

The rollout strategy mirrors Apple’s approach to the HomeView hub unveiled on October 12, which utilized briefings and videos rather than a traditional keynote. While invitations go out for the October 28 hands-on experience in Los Angeles, industry analysts point out that certain devices, such as the M6 iMac, may open for pre-orders in early November with deliveries scheduled later that month to capture the holiday shopping season.
