Apple TV+ Garners BAFTA Recognition and Oscar Win for “F1”
Apple TV+ has begun 2026 with significant industry recognition, highlighted by the Academy Award win for Best Sound for the original film “F1.” The streaming service has also received 25 nominations for the 2026 BAFTA Television Awards, further solidifying its position in the competitive television landscape.
BAFTA Television Awards 2026: 15 Nominations for Apple TV+ Originals
Apple TV+ secured 15 nominations across nine original series and films at the 2026 BAFTA Television Awards. Key nominations include recognition in the International category for “Severance,” “Pluribus,” and “The Studio,” and in the Factual Entertainment category for “Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars.” “Vietnam: The War That Changed America” received a nomination in the Specialist Factual category. Additional nominations were awarded to “Smoke,” “Down Cemetery Road,” “Gradual Horses,” and “Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age.”

Apple also received three nominations for the Royal Television Society Programme Awards, recognizing “Slow Horses” for Drama Series, and Christopher Chung and Saskia Reeves for Supporting Actor awards. “Down Cemetery Road” garnered three nominations at the Royal Television Society West of England Awards, including Production (Scripted), On Screen Talent (Performance) for Emma Thompson, and Sound.
The success of “F1,” produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joseph Kosinski, is notable, having already won the Oscar for Best Sound at the 98th Academy Awards (Apple Newsroom) and multiple Critics Choice and BAFTA awards (MacRumors).
