Apple retail stores are experiencing limited stock and extended delivery times for the HomePod, HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K, a pattern that often precedes the release of updated hardware. Although not a confirmation of an immediate launch, the dwindling inventory suggests Apple is preparing for recent devices, particularly as both the Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini are due for updates.

Apple’s Product Cycle and Delayed Releases

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the current situation aligns with Apple’s typical product cycle. He notes that Apple has had updated versions of the Apple TV and HomePod mini ready for some time, but has delayed their release while awaiting a more advanced Siri and broader Apple Intelligence rollout. The next Apple TV 4K is anticipated to transition from the A15 Bionic chip to the A17 Pro chip. This upgrade would support Apple Intelligence features and enhance performance for streaming, gaming, and smart home functionalities.

Interestingly, the full-sized HomePod is also experiencing stock shortages, despite a more recent refresh.
