Apple Watch Hypertension Feature Gains Approval in Australia

JAKARTA – Apple Watch users in Australia will soon be able to take advantage of the hypertension notification feature, after the country’s health authorities gave official approval. however,Apple has not announced the exact launch date for this feature.

The hypertension detection feature on the Apple Watch was first introduced in september 2025. Through this feature, the Apple Watch can monitor indications of high blood pressure and provide a warning to users to immediately seek medical treatment.However, activating this feature must first be done via a connected iPhone.

According to reports from Data Age, Australia’s medical regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Governance (TGA), has officially approved the feature. With this approval, the Apple Watch has also been registered as an internal medical device in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG).

Chief medical officer of Heart Foundation Australia, Professor Garry Jennings, welcomed the move.He views the TGA approval as a positive development in efforts to increase public awareness of high blood pressure.
