TEHRAN, March 4, 2026 – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has accused U.S. President Donald Trump of betraying both diplomacy and the American people by initiating strikes during ongoing nuclear negotiations. The accusations come amidst escalating tensions following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian cities and retaliatory attacks by Iran.

Accusations of Betrayal

Araghchi stated on the social media platform X that treating complex nuclear negotiations as a “real estate deal,” coupled with “big lies,” leads to unrealistic expectations. He further asserted that the outcome of this approach was “bombing the negotiation table out of spite,” and that Trump had betrayed both diplomacy and the Americans who elected him Xinhua, CGTN.

The remarks follow joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Tehran and other Iranian cities beginning Saturday morning. These strikes resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, family members, top military commanders, and civilians Xinhua. Nuclear Negotiations
