Aragonese Judo Athletes Shine at Spanish Championships

This past weekend saw significant success for judo clubs from Aragon at the Spanish Children’s Judo A Cup, held in Santiago de Compostela. Athletes from Binéfar and Sobrarbe secured a total of three medals, demonstrating the growing strength of judo in the region.

Silver Success for Sara Maull

Sara Maull, representing Club Judo Binéfar in the +63kg category, claimed a silver medal at the championships. She progressed through all her preliminary bouts before facing a tough final opponent who scored with just five seconds remaining, preventing her from securing the gold. Source: Cadena SER

Sobrarbe Judo School Likewise Medals

Other Notable Performances

Leo Mamolar (-38kg) from Sobrarbe had a promising run, but a disputed referee decision unfortunately prevented him from reaching the medal stages. Fabián Campoy also reached the final but was narrowly defeated by his Galician opponent, securing a silver medal. Source: Cadena SER

Provincial Championship Highlights

In a separate event, the provincial championship for Benjamín and Alevín categories was held in Huesca on Sunday, attracting around 150 young judokas from across Alto Aragón. The Barbastro Club de Judo sent 11 athletes, alongside coach Antonio Clager, to compete. Source: Cadena SER
