Axel Prahl’s Wife Faced Challenges Due to his Fame
His “Tatort” episodes reach an audience of millions. However, his second wife had to struggle wiht the consequences of his fame.
Berlin – Celebrity has many advantages. You get a table in a fully booked restaurant, an upgrade in the hotel, maybe you can even exchange a threatening ticket for an autograph. As a “crime scene” detective who investigates together with Jan Josef Liefers (61) in Münster, Axel Prahl may have already experienced some of these perks. But fame also has a downside – especially for those closest to the star.
Prahl (54) is married to actress Diana Wilkening (56). The two have been a couple since 2010. Before that, prahl was married to Andrea Kleinhans for many years. The actor rarely talks about his private life. Though, his second wife once revealed how difficult it was for her to come to terms with his growing popularity.
“At some point, I realized that I was no longer perceived as an individual, but as the wife of Axel prahl,” Wilkening told the “Hamburger Abendblatt” in an interview. She found it difficult to establish her own identity. “I had to fight for my own space, for my own recognition as an actress.”
Wilkening is a successful actress herself. She has appeared in numerous television and film productions, including “Großstadtrevier” and “Notruf Hafenkante.” Despite her professional success, she often found herself overshadowed by her husband’s fame.
“It’s not easy when people onyl see you through the eyes of your partner,” Wilkening explained. “You want to be appreciated for who you are, not just for who you are with.” She managed to overcome this challenge by focusing on her own work and building her own career.
Today, Wilkening and Prahl seem to have found a good balance. They support each other professionally and privately. “We are a team,” Wilkening said. “We can rely on each other.”
The couple lives in Berlin and enjoys spending their free time together. They are often seen at cultural events and art exhibitions. Prahl and wilkening prove that even in the glamorous world of show business, a strong partnership and mutual respect are essential for a happy life.
