Feldbaumer, a 68-year-old visitor from Arizona, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with parole eligibility after eight years for abusing a vulnerable adult at a residential memory care facility, according to the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. First District Judge Casey Simmons handed down the maximum possible sentence after Feldbaumer pleaded guilty in June to felony abuse of a vulnerable adult and misdemeanor battery.
Incident Details and Arrest at the Memory Care Facility
The criminal case stems from an incident in March 2026 while Feldbaumer was visiting a relative at the residential memory care facility. According to prosecutors, a duty nurse noticed that a 79-year-old resident suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia was missing from a scheduled activity. While searching the premises, the nurse discovered Feldbaumer having sexual contact with the missing resident in a bathroom, the prosecutor’s office reported.
When Feldbaumer realized he had been caught, he grabbed the nurse’s arm and begged her not to report the incident, a news release from the prosecutor’s office stated. Investigators noted that Feldbaumer only released his grip on the nurse after a second nurse arrived on the scene.
Sentencing and Judicial Penalties
First District Judge Casey Simmons imposed the maximum allowable prison term of 10 years, setting parole eligibility at eight years following the June guilty pleas. Feldbaumer was convicted of felony abuse of a vulnerable adult alongside a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from his physical contact with the staff member who intervened.
