Top-ranked Arizona has passed every test so far this season. We’ll soon learn so much more about these Wildcats. Starting Monday at Allen Fieldhouse, Arizona opens a stretch of four straight games versus ranked teams.
Arizona’s 23-0 mark is the longest in program and Big 12 history. No. 9 Kansas (18-5, 8-2) has won seven in a row and can get back in the Big 12 mix with a win.
Freshman star Darryn Peterson has played in three straight games and should be good to go for the Jayhawks.

Arizona has some standout freshmen of their own. Brayden Burries leads the Wildcats with 15.3 points per game and Koa Peat adds 14.6 ppg.
“It’s going to be a good game,” Kansas senior Tre White said. “We’re not trying to make it any bigger, any higher, or any lower than any game is supposed to be. But they’re a good team coming in. We’re rolling at the right time. So, we’re definitely trying to get that W.”

Is Darryn Peterson playing vs Arizona today?
The freshman leads the Jayhawks in scoring at 20.5 points per game but missed some time with an ankle injury earlier this season and sat the entire second half against BYU on Jan. 31 with cramps.
Peterson has played in just 13 of Kansas’ 23 games, but the projected high lottery pick in the 2026 NBA draft is coming off back-to-back games of 34+ minutes played and should be good to go Monday night.
LeBron’s son, Bryce James, to redshirt 2026 season
Bryce James, the son of NBA great LeBron James, is going to redshirt his freshman season at Arizona.
Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd said the decision is a “long play” for Bryce James, who has yet to play for the No. 1-ranked Wildcats.
“I have strong beliefs that Bryce will be a contributor at Arizona in the near future,” Lloyd said in an interview with the Big 12 Network. “He’s really shown a lot of progress, not only learning our system, but just physically maturing.”

Arizona vs Kansas basketball predictions
- Kansas 76, Arizona 71: A key matchup will likely be in the middle with Flory Bidunga (14.6 ppg, 8.9 rpg) vs. Motiejus Krivas (11.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg). Despite its unbeaten record, Arizona has some weaknesses. The Wildcats make a Big 12-low 5.9 3-pointers per game and are prone to turnovers (11.5 per game). Don’t underestimate the impact a charged Phog can have on Arizona’s freshmen. — Matthew Glenesk, USA TODAY
- Kansas 84, Arizona 81: Arizona will arrive as the toughest test that the Jayhawks will have faced this season, and a team that won’t allow coach Bill Self’s squad to get away with what it did recently against Utah. The Wildcats also just trounced Oklahoma State at home in the way KU should have trounced Utah. But this is Self and company at home, inside Allen Fieldhouse, with freshman guard Darryn Peterson doing well, so look for Kansas to step up to that challenge with an 84-81 win. — Jordan Guskey, Topeka Capital Journal
