Arrow McLaren Re-signs Chevrolet Engine Deal for 2027 and Beyond
Arrow McLaren announced a multiyear contract extension with Chevrolet on October 6, 2026, locking in the Bowtie as its NTT INDYCAR SERIES engine manufacturer for the 2027 season and subsequent years. The agreement establishes vital technical continuity as the team prepares for a major regulatory overhaul across the grid.
Preparation for the 2028 Dallara IR-28 Chassis Shift
The extended partnership arrives at a critical juncture for both organizations as the series completes early testing phases for the new Dallara IR-28 chassis, scheduled to debut in 2028 competition. The upcoming platform introduces an upgraded power-to-weight ratio, improved aerodynamic architecture, new wing packages designed for better racing, and enhanced safety systems. Early manufacturer involvement remains essential for these technical developments.
Our extension with Chevrolet is key to our overall goal of winning both the INDYCAR championship and the Indy 500,
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown said in a team release. Over the past seven seasons, the team and Chevy have been working closely together through various developments, and the work now ahead of us with the 2028 chassis will be critical in determining our competitiveness.
Seven Seasons of Partnership Metrics
Since McLaren Racing entered the series full time in 2020 alongside Schmidt Peterson Motorsports to form Arrow McLaren SP, the collaboration has accumulated 14 wins, 54 podiums, and 13 NTT P1 Pole Awards. During this same window, Chevrolet captured three consecutive Manufacturers’ Championships from 2022 to 2024. Arrow McLaren operated as the top-finishing Chevrolet entry in 11 of the 18 races during the 2026 season.
Arrow McLaren has been an important part of Chevrolet’s INDYCAR program, and this extension reflects the strength of the technical relationship we’ve built together,
said Eric Warren, General Motors vice president of global motorsports competition. As the series moves toward the next generation of car and powertrain development, close collaboration between our engineers will be critical.

The 2027 Driver Lineup Transition
The technical stability provided by Chevrolet coincides with a revamped driver roster for Arrow McLaren ahead of the 2027 season. Pato O’Ward returns to pilot the No. 5 Chevrolet. He will be joined by six-time series champion Scott Dixon, who moves to the team after more than two decades at Chip Ganassi Racing to drive the No. 6 entry, alongside 2026 Indianapolis 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist in the No. 7 car. Ryan Hunter-Reay is set to control the No. 31 entry for the 2027 Indianapolis 500.
