Art Basel Paris Returns to the Grand Palais for its Landmark Fifth Edition

Art Basel Paris runs from October 23 to 25, 2026, bringing 211 galleries from 41 countries and regions to the refurbished Grand Palais. Marking its fifth year, the expanded fair arrives as the French art market builds on a 9 percent sales increase to $4.5 billion, according to the Art Basel & UBS Global Art Market Report 2026.

The landmark fifth edition of Art Basel Paris expands beyond the walls of the historic Grand Palais to transform the French capital into an expansive week-long cultural showcase. What started as a standalone high-profile showcase has evolved into a citywide event running from October 19 to 25, 2026. The fair now encompasses extensive public art initiatives, fashion crossovers, and collaborations across Paris.

Director Karim Crippa took the helm in November 2025.

Galleries and Shared Booths Fill the Main Floor

Inside the Grand Palais, 211 galleries from 41 countries present blue-chip masterworks alongside contemporary pieces. This year’s floor layout features a record twelve pairs of galleries splitting booths to present collaborative exhibitions. Jeffrey Deitch and Michael Rosenfeld Gallery pair up to set work by 1953 Paris resident Beauford Delaney beside modern pieces by Alteronce Gumby. Nearby, Galerie Isabella Bortolozzi exhibits fourteen photographs by Nobel laureate Annie Ernaux and Marc Marie documenting an affair that unfolded during Ernaux’s cancer treatment.

First-time participant Larkin Erdmann brings a historic museum-style lineup featuring Man Ray’s Violon d’Ingres, Marcel Duchamp’s mustache-adorned Mona Lisa, and an On Kawara painting held in a single private collection since 1978. A Christina Quarles triptych shifts its configuration daily on the main floor, while Tracey Emin’s bronze sculptures look out toward the Eiffel Tower.

Balcony Sector Showcases Emerging Talent

Up on the balconies, the Emergence sector dedicates solo booths to sixteen young galleries representing rising international artists. Lo Brutto Stahl exhibits Clémentine Adou, who transforms discarded cardboard and umbrella frames into commentary on Parisian storefront windows. KIN features Angharad Williams, pairing trout paintings with a video perspective simulating the moment before a fish bites live bait.

Additional artists to watch in the Emergence sector include Drake Carr, represented by Mariposa from Los Angeles and New York, whose large canvases blend Mannerist composition with queer nightlife. Oskar Weiss from Zurich presents Lorenza Longhi, who laid down a Roman-mosaic floor pattern concealing a hidden spy camera inside a gift bag. Seoul gallery P21 features Haneyl Choi, whose sculptures draw directly from his experiences with sleepwalking and teeth grinding. Berlin’s Schiefe Zähne exhibits Anna Clegg, who turns repetitive party snapshots into wobbly, collaged architectural forms.

Public Art Programs Extend Across the City

The public program carries large-scale installations across Parisian neighborhoods well before the official fair doors open. Tracey Emin’s bronzes debuted on the Parvis des Droits de l’Homme on October 14, alongside Robert Indiana’s LOVE Wall placed on Place Clemenceau. Suspended 20 meters overhead across Avenue Winston-Churchill, a neon sign reading CIEL by Marcello Maloberti adds to the outdoor displays.

Maison Guerlain hosts its exhibition titled L’Heure des Possibles at its Champs-Élysées location from October 21 through November 15, 2026, showcasing works by Christian Boltanski, Ann Veronica Janssens, Laure Prouvost, Xie Lei, Ugo Rondinone, and James Turrell.

Talk Programs and Weekend Gallery Rehargs

Free daily conversations inside the fair bring together notable cultural figures, pairing Simone Fattal with Hans Ulrich Obrist, and placing Ibrahim Mahama and Zanele Muholi in dialogue. Louvre president Christophe Leribault also takes the microphone during the talks program.

Visitors attending the weekend sessions on October 23 to 25 will experience the Oh La La! sector, themed around Myths and Legends. Participating galleries rehang their booths with new works.
