Art as Advocacy: Quebec Exhibition Promotes Healthy Relationships and Combats Sexual Exploitation

A new artistic initiative in Quebec is harnessing the power of creative expression to promote healthy relationships and raise awareness about the critical issue of sexual exploitation of minors. The exhibition, titled “Our links in creation,” showcases works by young people from the National Capital region, offering a poignant look into their perspectives on communication, values, intimacy, and personal boundaries.

The project, spearheaded by the Quebec Regional Consultation Table on Sexual Exploitation, encouraged adolescents and young adults to engage in both collective and individual reflection on the complexities of relationships. The resulting artwork transcends mere aesthetics, serving as powerful statements about their relational realities. Organizers emphasize the importance of providing safe spaces for young people to express themselves, reflect, and be heard.

Timing with National Awareness Week

The exhibition’s launch coincides with the National Week to Combat the Sexual Exploitation of Minors, taking place from March 1 to 7, 2026. This annual event aims to increase public awareness and strengthen collective prevention efforts. “Our links in creation” directly contributes to this effort by fostering healthy relationship dynamics and empowering young people to take action.

The Quebec Regional Consultation Table on Sexual Exploitation

The Quebec Regional Consultation Table on Sexual Exploitation is a collaborative network comprised of partners from community organizations, schools, police forces, health and social services, and the justice system. Its mission is to strengthen regional consultation to prevent the sexual exploitation of young people and improve intervention practices.

The Table achieves this through:

• Coordinating a network of pivotal workers
• Developing concerted practices
• Implementing prevention actions
• Offering specialized training

These efforts contribute to a regional safety net for vulnerable youth and support organizations in their interventions.

The public is invited to view the exhibition from February 26 to March 31, 2026, at Espace Sherpa (130, boulevard Charest Est, Quebec).
