Third-Alarm Fire Contained at Abandoned Honolulu Home

Honolulu, HI – A third-alarm fire broke out at an abandoned home on Young Street in Honolulu Thursday morning, prompting a swift response from the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD). The fire, located near the intersection of Elsie and King Streets, was reported at 8:04 a.m. And brought under control at 8:43 a.m., according to the HFD.

Fire Details and Response

Firefighters dispatched an investigator to the scene at approximately 8:24 a.m. The incident escalated to a third-alarm blaze at 8:25 a.m., signifying the need for additional resources. However, crews successfully extinguished the fire by 9:10 a.m.

The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) shut down Young Street between Elsie Street and Punahou Street in both directions as a result of the fire. The timeline for reopening the roadway remains unknown.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel were present at the scene, but as of Thursday morning, no information regarding injuries had been released.
