Malaysia to Lead Delegation at 25th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting in Brunei
Malaysia’s Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, will lead the country’s delegation to the 25th ASEAN-European Union (EU) Ministerial Meeting in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. The meeting is scheduled to take place from April 27 to 28, 2026, at the International Convention Centre (ICC).
Brunei is serving as the host nation for the biennial dialogue, which brings together foreign ministers from ASEAN member states and the European Union to discuss regional and global issues. Preparations at the ICC are underway, with staff arranging facilities, member states’ flags, and technical equipment ahead of the delegates’ arrival.
The ASEAN Secretariat will also participate in the meeting, with Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn leading its delegation. The two-day agenda will focus on strengthening ASEAN-EU ties, exchanging views on key international matters, and enhancing cooperation between the two regions.
The meeting will receive media coverage from both ASEAN and EU outlets, including Malaysian media organizations Bernama and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM). Local residents in Brunei have expressed pride in hosting the event, noting it highlights the country’s capability to organize major international gatherings and showcases its hospitality and cultural heritage.
As the current chair of ASEAN, Malaysia aims to leverage the platform to advance a strategic agenda focused on deepening cooperation with the EU in areas such as trade, sustainability, and regional security.
