Sharks Defeat Bruins 3-1

The San Jose Sharks welcomed the Boston bruins into SAP Center and emerged victorious with a 3-1 win. Shakir Mukhamadullin, Macklin Celebrini, and collin Graf each scored for the Sharks.

Period 1

Early in the period, the Sharks’ top line, led by Eklund, generated offensive pressure. Celebrini played effectively off the puck, creating chances for Eklund and Smith. The Sharks’ power play units consisted of Orlov, Celebrini, Eklund, Toffoli, and Wennberg (PP1), and Liljegren, Smith, kurashev, Graf, and Gaudette (PP2). Eklund drew another penalty with his strong play down low.

Mukhamadullin scored, potentially boosting his confidence, with Goodrow contributing key puck retrievals and distributions. Dickinson showcased his agility on the blueline, shaking a defender and launching a shot. Ferraro demonstrated resilience under forecheck pressure, completing a pass to Gaudette. Orlov successfully defended against Pastrnak, keeping him relatively quiet throughout the period.

Observations focused on Askarov’s performance during the penalty kill, particularly his tracking of Pastrnak, as discussed in a recent Kevin Woodley podcast. Askarov demonstrated a pronounced focus on Pastrnak’s movements, maintaining an upright posture until the shot was released.

Askarov then made an incredible side-to-side save on a Pastrnak one-timer, showcasing his speedy reflexes and positioning. The Bruins increased their pressure as the period progressed. Orlov…
