University of Delaware’s Biden School of Public Policy and Administration Announces Open Position for Associate Director of Undergraduate Recruitment

The Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join its Student Services team as an Associate Director of Undergraduate Recruitment. This key role will focus on developing and implementing strategies to attract and enroll a diverse and qualified student body.

Established in December 2018, the Biden School builds upon the legacy of the former College of Urban Affairs and Public Policy. Named in honor of University of Delaware alumnus and 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden, the school is dedicated to providing undergraduate and graduate education, research, and public service in the fields of public policy and administration. The Biden School also hosts six institutes and research centers, including the Biden Institute, the Center for Applied Demography and Survey Research, the Center for Community Research and Service, the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, the Center for Historic Architecture and Design, and the Institute for Public Administration.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Assistant Dean of Student Services, the Associate Director of Undergraduate Recruitment will be responsible for all aspects of the recruitment process for associate, first-year, transfer, and master’s students. This includes developing and executing recruitment plans, collaborating with the communications team, and representing the Biden School at various events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategize, implement, and manage all undergraduate and graduate student recruitment processes and yield activities.
  • Develop a yearly communications plan for prospective students in collaboration with the communications team.
  • Create annual talking points and presentations for administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Collaborate with School leadership and UD Enrollment Management to yield a competitive class each year.
  • Serve as a liaison with UD Online to enhance recruitment for online programs.
  • Coordinate faculty, staff, and student participation in university-wide and college open houses and recruitment events.
  • Develop a “recruiting toolkit” for faculty, staff, and alumni.
  • Cultivate relationships with prospective students and their families.
  • Recommend enhancements to the Biden School and UD prospective student webpages.
  • Lead the development and implementation of data-driven recruitment strategies.
  • Interpret data and prepare regular recruiting reports.
  • Cultivate connections with high school counselors, teachers, and community college advisors.
  • Represent the school at off-campus events.
  • Ensure compliance with University policies and data governance rules.
  • Manage the office budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of higher education.
  • Advanced knowledge of academic recruitment, yield strategies, and student success factors.
  • Experience with student services and academic advising is preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Proficiency in presentation, spreadsheet, and database software.

Additional Information

This position includes some evening and weekend work and may require travel. A valid driver’s license is required.
