Sun Devil Water Polo Secures First MPSF Conference Win, Millie Quin Nears Scoring Record

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The No. 5 Arizona State Sun Devil Water Polo team (19-2, 1-1) defeated No. 16 San Jose State (5-8, 0-2) 21-7 on Sunday, marking their first MPSF conference victory of the season. Arizona State dominated the game, increasing their lead throughout each quarter.

The 21-goal performance was the seventh time this season the Sun Devils have scored 20 or more goals in a game, and the first time achieving this in conference play.

Dominant Performances from Freshmen and Seniors

Freshman center Lulu Gaetano led the Sun Devils with four goals on four shots, bringing her season total to 10 goals. Freshman attacker Laura Kardos contributed with two goals and two assists, totaling four points in the win. Senior attacker Millie Quin and freshman attacker Maci Magee each scored hat tricks.

Quin on the Verge of History

Millie Quin is now just 10 goals away from becoming the Sun Devils’ all-time leading goal scorer, surpassing Luca Petovary’s record. Currently, Quin has 243 career goals, while Petovary holds the record with 252 goals.

MPSF Conference Leaderboard

Millie Quin currently ranks ninth on the MPSF Conference’s all-time career goals list with 262 goals. Her collegiate career began at Cal, where she scored 19 goals, and continued at Arizona State, where she has tallied the remaining 243.
