Grant McAuley of 92.9 The Game reported after the Atlanta Braves exited the postseason.
The Atlanta Braves officially parted ways with Luke Williams after the 30-year-old elected free agency, according to MLB.com. The transaction follows a roster shuffle that began when the team selected LHP Danny Young to the major league roster and designated Williams for assignment, as reported by Lindsay Crosby of Braves Today.
Roster Moves and Offseason Decisions for Atlanta
The roster adjustment comes on the heels of Atlanta’s postseason exit on October 7, when the Los Angeles Dodgers eliminated the Braves in Game 4 of the National League Division Series with a 4-1 victory. While observers pointed to a pitching staff depleted to just two starters as a primary vulnerability, McAuley noted that an offense unable to deliver crucial hits in key moments ultimately sealed the team’s playoff fate.
