Audi Q3 Gains More Powerful Diesel Engine in Germany
Audi has expanded the engine options for the Q3 and Q3 Sportback in Germany with the addition of a more powerful 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine producing 193 horsepower. This new engine joins the existing 150-horsepower 2.0 TDI option, offering customers increased performance. While currently exclusive to the German market, Audi has indicated the possibility of expanding availability to other countries in the future.
Performance and Specifications
The new Audi Q3 equipped with the 193 hp TDI engine can achieve a top speed of up to 220 km/h (approximately 137 mph) and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 7.5 seconds. The Q3 Sportback, with the same engine, reaches a slightly higher top speed of 221 km/h (approximately 137.3 mph). Combined fuel consumption for both models ranges from 6.1 to 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers (approximately 38.6 to 41.5 mpg), with CO₂ emissions between 160 and 178 g/km.
Drivetrain and Trim Levels
The 193 hp 2.0 TDI engine is exclusively paired with Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system and the S tronic automatic transmission. It is available across all current trim levels for both the Q3 and Q3 Sportback models.
Pricing
In Germany, the Audi Q3 with the 193 hp TDI engine starts at €51,900, while the Q3 Sportback with the same engine begins at €53,750. This represents an approximately €5,000 increase over the 150-horsepower diesel versions, though the higher price is partially offset by the standard inclusion of the quattro all-wheel drive system.
Market Trends and Strategy
The introduction of this more powerful diesel engine demonstrates Audi’s continued recognition of demand for diesel options, particularly among corporate fleet buyers. This strategy aligns with similar moves within the Audi lineup, such as the recent addition of an electrified 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine with 299 horsepower to the A6 range. Audi announced the Q3 TFSI 110 kW 2 will be available in Germany starting at €44,600.
