Austin FC’s “Verde Week” Kicks Off Season of Festivities
Austin FC is launching its 2026 season with “Verde Week,” a series of free events leading up to the home opener against Minnesota United FC on Saturday, February 21st at Q2 Stadium. The week-long celebration aims to connect fans with the team and the Austin community through a variety of activities.
Verde Week Schedule
- Sunday, February 15: Family Fest – Held at The Domain Northside from 3:00-5:00 p.m. CT, this event features appearances by midfielders Dani Pereira and Owen Wolff, live music, Verdisimo, Austin FC’s luchador, and the Verde Van. The Daily Texan reports fans enjoyed face painting, futsal, and meeting players.
- Tuesday, February 17: Community Tree Planting – Austin FC, in partnership with Keep Austin Beautiful, will host a community tree planting event at LBJ Early College High School from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. CT.
- Wednesday, February 18: Meet Facundo Torres – Fans can meet newly-acquired Designated Player Facundo Torres at The VERDE Store at Q2 Stadium from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. CT.
- Thursday, February 19: YETI 2026 Season Kickoff Party – YETI and Austin FC will host a kickoff party at the YETI Flagship store on South Congress from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. CT, offering discounts, live music by Curtis Lee, and an appearance by an Austin FC player.
- Friday, February 20: Verde Verde Verde Fest – Hosted by independent supporters group La Murga de Austin, this season kickoff party takes place at Radio East from 6:00 p.m. To 12:00 a.m.
- Saturday, February 21: Pre-Match Party – Live Oak Park outside Q2 Stadium’s east side will host a pre-match party from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. CT, featuring live music, drink specials, and face painting.
Community Engagement and Player Integration
Austin FC emphasizes community involvement and player integration during Verde Week. Ryan Madden, senior vice president of marketing for Austin FC, explained that the events provide opportunities for fans to connect with new players on a personal level, going beyond traditional media coverage. According to The Daily Texan, Madden stated the events allow fans to “shake their hands, receive an autograph, meet them in person.”
