A Concert Bridging Giants: Beethoven, Fauré, and a Tribute to Bizet

The genius of Beethoven irrevocably shaped the landscape of music, paving the way for boundless possibilities. His resolute and powerful spirit resonates profoundly in Symphony No. 7, a work celebrated not only for its strength but also its elegance and fluidity. As Wagner admiringly noted, it’s an “apotheosis of dance,” a supreme expression of movement concentrated into sound.

On January 23, 2026, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes national Orchestra will present a program honoring this legacy while simultaneously showcasing the evolution of musical expression. alongside Beethoven, the concert features Gabriel Fauré, a pivotal figure in French music, and a new work by contemporary composer Richard Dubugnon.

Dubugnon’s score offers a personal tribute to Bizet’s iconic Carmen, and will be brought to life by the esteemed Swiss Piano Trio – pianist Martin Lucas Staub, violinist angela Golubeva, and cellist Franz Ortner. Praised for their “homogeneity, technical perfection and strong expressive capacities,” the trio is ideally suited to interpret this French creation, first presented in clermont-Ferrand.

This concert at the Opera-Theatre of Clermont-Ferrand promises a compelling journey through musical history, connecting the foundational power of Beethoven to the refined artistry of Fauré and the innovative voice of Dubugnon.
