Avowed Launches on PS5 with Anniversary Update

After a year since its initial release, Obsidian Entertainment’s action RPG Avowed is now available on PlayStation 5, coinciding with the launch of a substantial anniversary update. The update delivers long-requested features and quality-of-life improvements for all players, while also expanding the game’s character creation options and adding latest content.

New Playable Species

The anniversary update introduces three new playable species to Avowed, joining the existing Humans and Elves. Players can now choose to play as:

• Dwarves: Known for their strength and tenacity, the Dwarves are well-traveled throughout Eora.
• Orlans: Distinctive for their two-toned skin, prominent ears and small stature.
• Aumaua: Towering and powerfully built, the Aumaua are physically imposing.

Each species offers unique stat bonuses, adding another layer to character customization. Players can change their species, along with their overall appearance, at any time using a mirror added to the Party Camp.

Species-specific stat bonuses include:

• Humans: +1 Might, +1 Resolve
• Elves: +1 Dexterity, +1 Perception
• Aumaua: +2 Might
• Dwarves: +1 Might, +1 Constitution
• Orlans: +1 Perception, +1 Resolve

Anniversary Update Features

Beyond the new playable species, the anniversary update includes several other additions:

• New Game+: Players can now restart the game with their existing character and gear, offering a new challenge and allowing for different build experimentation.
• Photo Mode: A dedicated photo mode allows players to capture and share their adventures in the Living Lands.
• Quality-of-Life Improvements: The update includes a broad range of quality-of-life improvements based on community feedback.

Avowed on PlayStation 5

The release on PlayStation 5 marks the first time Avowed has been available on the platform. The game takes place in the world of Eora, the same setting as the Pillars of Eternity series, and offers a dynamic world where enemies do not scale with the player, creating opportunities for both challenging encounters and rewarding exploration.
