The hospital has already screened over 20,000 individuals for colorectal and cervical cancers, identifying a growing number of at-risk patients and those in early stages of the disease.

Increased Cancer Detection Rates

The hospital’s proactive screening efforts have led to a significant increase in the identification of at-risk individuals and early-stage cancer patients. In 2023, over 800 cases were identified, rising to more than 1,000 cases currently. This increase is attributed to expanded service coverage and outreach programs.

Cancer Incidence Trends in Thailand

Data from the screening program reveals specific cancer trends among men and women. Among males, colorectal and rectal cancer are most prevalent, followed by prostate cancer. The incidence rate of colorectal and rectal cancer in males is 32 per 100,000 population, with risk factors including a diet high in spicy and fatty foods, and a lack of exercise. Prostate cancer affects 11.2 per 100,000 men, often diagnosed at a later stage.

For women, breast and cervical cancers are the most commonly detected, aligning with national data reporting rates of 31.4 and 14.7 per 100,000 population, respectively. These cancers frequently affect individuals of working age, impacting quality of life and creating economic burdens.

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital provides a full spectrum of cancer care services, accessible to patients with gold card benefits. This includes surgical interventions, chemotherapy, and referrals to external networks for radiotherapy.
