The B.League announced the launch of the Basketball Infrastructure League (BI League) 2026-27, a community participation competition operating from October 4, 2026, to February 14, 2027. Developed alongside Infronia Holdings Inc., the initiative tasks clubs, fans, and local citizens with supporting regional infrastructure while competing for a 3 million yen grand prize.
Structure of the BI League 2026-27 Competition
The BI League competition divides participants into two distinct scoring segments to evaluate both on-court performance and community engagement. According to the B.League’s official announcement, the tournament uses a dual-track format to determine the overall winner.
The Basketball League Department evaluates clubs based on defensive capability, utilizing regular-season points allowed to rank each team. Concurrently, the Infrastructure League Department awards points to fans and participants for localized activities. These tasks include visiting regional spots, inspecting or submitting reports on basketball hoops, and logging municipal infrastructure such as fire hydrant markers.
Clubs combine points from both the defensive standings and the community infrastructure contributions. The club that accumulates the highest combined total secures the tournament’s overall championship and a 3 million yen prize. Individual participants can also win recognition, with the Most Valuable Player receiving a basketball signed by players from their supported club.
Youth Support and Digital Integration
Alongside the main competition, organizers scheduled the Youth Support on BI League event for the same operational window. This companion program incentivizes visits to regional recommended spots chosen by B.League clubs, alongside favorite infrastructure locations highlighted by Infronia Holdings corporate character “Kyaretan.”
Final standings for the youth support initiative depend entirely on visitor volume at these designated locations. Infronia Holdings funds a total prize pool of 5 million yen, which is distributed among clubs as activity support funds based on their final rankings. The individual participant who generates the highest submission points receives merchandise signed by the captain of their chosen club.
Participation in the infrastructure tracking and spot-visiting activities requires downloading a dedicated smartphone application. The league encourages supporters to utilize the platform to log their local community activities and assist their preferred clubs in the standings.
