Singer Baek Ji-young and actor Jung Suk-won recently opened up about their emotional journey to parenthood, revealing their experience with two miscarriages before the birth of their daughter, Jung Ha-im. The couple shared their story on Baek Ji-young’s YouTube channel, offering a candid look into their personal lives.
Unexpected Pregnancy and Morning Sickness
During a recent video, Baek Ji-young recounted her pregnancy experience while preparing a meal for a pregnant production staff member. She described experiencing morning sickness, noting, “I had food sickness. As soon as my stomach was empty, I vomited.” Jung Suk-won added that his wife also developed gestational diabetes during the pregnancy, leading to unusual cravings. “She even ate a whole tub of ice cream, which she didn’t normally eat,” he shared.
Baek Ji-young explained that she discovered she was pregnant while on tour and seeking medical attention for a sore throat. After initially denying the possibility of pregnancy, a blood test confirmed she was expecting. This led to the cancellation of her tour to prioritize her health and the developing baby.
Navigating Loss and Finding Hope
The couple bravely shared the pain of experiencing two miscarriages before Ha-im’s birth. Jung Suk-won confessed, “Actually, we had two miscarriages.” Baek Ji-young added, “We were on tour at that time as well.” Following these losses, they approached the pregnancy with Ha-im with cautious optimism.
“After experiencing two miscarriages, I thought, ‘Let’s live well together,’” Jung Suk-won said. “But when Ha-im was born, I saw that she was so pretty.” He expressed deep gratitude for their daughter, describing the time spent caring for her while Baek Ji-young performed in the U.S. As “a gift.”
A Special Prenatal Dream
Baek Ji-young also revealed a vivid prenatal dream she had before Ha-im’s birth. She described a dream involving a carriage pulled by a white horse and a black carp flying into the sky, believing it to be a sign of her daughter’s arrival.
A Lasting Partnership
Baek Ji-young and Jung Suk-won married in 2013 and welcomed their daughter, Jung Ha-im, in 2017. Their openness about their struggles and joys resonates with many, offering a message of hope and resilience to those facing similar challenges.
