Jessie Buckley Shines at the 2026 BAFTAs: Red Carpet Highlights

London’s Royal Festival Hall hosted the 79th British Academy Film Awards, with Jessie Buckley taking center stage after winning the Best Actress award for her role in Hamnet. The event showcased a range of striking fashion choices, from bold colors to daring designs.

A Splash of Colour and Classic Elegance

Jessie Buckley made a memorable entrance in an electric blue Grecian-style gown, featuring a high neckline, embellished brooches on the shoulders, and an unexpected scooped back. Her co-star, Paul Mescal, nominated for Best Actor, opted for a loose-fitting black suit paired with a simple white shirt, accompanied by Gracie Abrams.

Cillian Murphy maintained a classic appear in a black suit and white shirt with a matching white tie, although Maura Higgins stood out in a red satin dress. Maggie O’Farrell, author of Hamnet, similarly embraced the red hue.

Daring Designs and Modern Suiting

The red carpet also saw a trend towards more risqué outfits. Emma Stone chose a black dress with a halter-neck, keyhole cut-out, and daring backless design. Carey Mulligan opted for a navy halter-neck dress, also backless with a single thin strap, and styled her hair in a relaxed bob.

Up-and-comer Chase Infiniti continued her collaboration with Louis Vuitton, wearing a burgundy gown with a strapless design and dramatic fishtail. Erin Doherty also donned a Louis Vuitton creation – a black dress with a statement skirt and low neckline.

Men’s wear also made a statement, notably with host Alan Cumming’s modern take on traditional suiting. He wore a black overcoat over a black shirt and trousers, accented with white fringing at the bottom. His look was completed with dyed pink, blue, and white curls and a statement brooch instead of a tie.

The event drew a constellation of stars, including Teyana Taylor, Rose Byrne, Kerry Washington, Renate Reinsve, Emily Watson, Sadie Sink, Riz Ahmed, Alicia Vikander, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Kathryn Hahn. Timothée Chalamet also made an appearance.
