Encouraging “Beyond the Classroom Impact”

This yearS Galaxy competition centers around the theme “Beyond the Classroom Impact,” encouraging students to apply their scientific knowledge and creative skills to real-world challenges. The competition features four distinct branches,all offered wiht free registration:

* Water Rocket Competition: Students design,build,and launch water rockets,applying principles of physics and engineering.
* Science Olympiad: A conventional academic competition testing students’ knowledge across various scientific disciplines.
* Poster Design: Students visually communicate scientific concepts and ideas through creative poster designs.
* Quizzes: Testing general science knowledge in a competitive format.

Investing in Balikpapan’s Future

Deputy Mayor Bagus Susetyo, who led the opening ceremony, highlighted the increasing importance of scientific and innovative thinking in a rapidly changing world.He emphasized that initiatives like Galaxy provide a dynamic learning environment through practical application, competition, and peer interaction.

“I welcome the implementation of Galaxy as an effort to form a generation that has abilities in the field of science, combined with creativity,” stated Susetyo.

The Deputy Mayor also underscored the need for continued investment in technology and science-based learning infrastructure to support Balikpapan’s development as a smart city and enhance the quality of its human resources. The goal is to create a space were students can confidently develop ideas, experiment with new approaches, and produce impactful work.
