Ball State Women’s Tennis Falls to Bellarmine in Non-Conference Finale

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Ball State women’s tennis team concluded its non-conference road schedule with a 4-2 loss to Bellarmine on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex Ball State Athletics.

Cardinals Conclude Non-Conference Play

The Cardinals (7-4) entered the match following a 6-1 victory over Western Kentucky earlier in the week but were unable to replicate that success against the Knights in their first-ever meeting. Despite the loss, Ball State has demonstrated significant growth this spring, securing wins against Cincinnati, Dayton, and Cornell.

Match Highlights

Asia Ting Fontana and Sydney Hrehor secured the lone doubles victory for Ball State, defeating Lillie Willis and Gracie Hurley 6-1 on court No. 2. This followed a 6-4 win against Western Kentucky earlier in the week, showcasing their growing partnership Ball State Athletics.

In singles play, Priyanka Rana and Isabel Tanjuatco earned victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, respectively. However, Bellarmine claimed three singles matches to secure the overall win.

Coach Kirtane’s Comments

“It was a great match today,” said Ball State head women’s tennis coach Sachin Kirtane Ball State Athletics. “We fought hard. We kind of turned the match around after the doubles and gave ourselves a chance. I am proud of the girls for their effort, and we are looking forward to starting the Mid-American Conference season.” Sachin Kirtane was named head coach in June 2023, inheriting a program with a recent history of success, including two straight Mid-American Conference championships and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances Get Some MACTION.
