Bangu Reaches Taça Rio Final, Awaits Botafogo or Boavista
Bangu secured their spot in the Taça Rio final after a 1-1 draw against Volta Redonda on Friday night, following a 1-0 victory in the first leg. They will now face either Botafogo or Boavista in the championship decider.

Botafogo’s Advantage in Semifinal
Botafogo holds an advantage heading into the second leg of their semifinal match against Boavista. Having won the first leg 2-0, Botafogo can afford to lose by up to one goal on Saturday at the Nilton Santos Stadium and still advance to the final. The match is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
Taça Rio Final Details
The Taça Rio final will be a single-match affair, taking place on either March 7th or 8th. If Botafogo reaches the final, the match will be held at the Nilton Santos Stadium. Should Boavista advance, the final will be played at the Elcyr Resende Stadium in Saquarema.
What’s at Stake?
The champion of the Taça Rio will earn a spot in both the Copa do Brasil and the Copa Sul-Sudeste in 2027. If Botafogo wins the Taça Rio and qualifies for a South American tournament next year, the Copa Sul-Sudeste spot will be awarded to the runner-up.
