State Bank of Pakistan Announces Closure for New Year’s Day
KARACHI – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will observe a bank holiday on Thursday, January 1st, 2026, and will remain closed too the general public for all transaction-related services. This closure affects all commercial banks,Development Finance Institutions (DFIs),and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) operating within pakistan.
While public-facing branches will be inaccessible, the SBP confirms that all bank employees are expected to report to work as usual to maintain essential banking operations and internal processes. This ensures continued functionality of the financial system despite the public holiday.
Customers are advised to plan their banking activities accordingly and utilize alternative channels, such as online banking and ATMs, where available, to manage their financial needs during the holiday period.
