Baptist Health and Seale Harris Clinic have signed leases to become lead tenants at the planned Riverwalk Health & Wellness Center in Hoover, Alabama, with construction on the 90-acre mixed-use development advancing toward an anticipated opening in early 2028, abc3340.com reported.
The health and wellness facility forms part of the broader Riverwalk Village development initially unveiled in 2023 near Valleydale Road and Interstate 65. Alongside medical spaces, the multi-use project incorporates residential housing built by Signature Homes, retail, and hospitality offerings. Master developer CR Endeavors designed the wellness center to bring multiple healthcare providers together with an emphasis on convenient access, prevention, and wellness.
Baptist Health plans to occupy approximately 25 percent of the Health & Wellness Center across one and a half floors. The health system’s footprint will house a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center and a multi-specialty clinic designed to serve residents throughout Hoover and Central Alabama.
“We see Riverwalk as an important extension of our availability to provide healthcare for patients,” Kevin Flynn, chief administrative officer for Baptist Health, said in a statement. “Baptist Health is prepared to bring quality services both clinically and through the ambulatory surgery center so patients in Hoover and Central Alabama can be better served.”
Seale Harris Clinic Will Expand Primary Care Access in Hoover
Seale Harris Clinic, a Central Alabama primary care and family medicine practice established in 1922, will establish a new branch at the Riverwalk facility. The practice maintains a long-standing history of serving generations of patients across the region and continues to provide accessible services such as same-day appointments.
“The Riverwalk Seale Harris Clinic will carry forward our founder’s commitment that patients come first,” Lorie Box, Seale Harris administrator, stated.
The inclusion of both Baptist Health and Seale Harris aligns with the goals of the Hoover Healthcare Authority, which was established in 2022 to expand local access to medical services. The authority and the city followed state regulations to advance the project, culminating in August 2024 when Administrative Law Judge Ryan deGraffenried recommended approval of a Certificate of Need following a contested case hearing. Officials supported the project to address an expanding local population requiring additional outpatient medical, diagnostic, and imaging capabilities.
