Train Disruptions in Switzerland: S1 and IR36 Services Affected by Catenary Fault

Travelers in Switzerland faced delays, cancellations, and diversions on Thursday evening due to a catenary fault between Basel SBB and Brugg AG. The disruption significantly impacted services on the S1 and IR36 lines, leaving many passengers stranded, particularly in Pratteln.

Disruption Details and Affected Routes

According to the Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB), rail traffic was interrupted between Pratteln and Kaiseraugst due to the contact line fault. The S1 train service was completely canceled in Pratteln, hindering travel towards Fricktal.

The SBB advised travelers between Baden, Brugg AG, and Basel SBB to travel via Olten. Passengers traveling between Pratteln and Kaiseraugst were directed to use bus line 83 as an alternative transportation method. SBB is providing updated information on its website.

Delays and Expected Resolution

Delays ranging from a few minutes to indefinite postponements were reported at Basel train station on Thursday evening. The SBB initially expected the disruption to be resolved by 10:30 p.m. However, travelers are advised to check for current information for the most up-to-date status.
