Baywatch Star David Charvet Accused of Hitting Dog in Malibu Former “Baywatch” star David Charvet is accused of striking and killing a dog with his pickup truck in Malibu early Thursday morning, according to multiple reports. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. On Cross Creek Road when Charvet drove through his neighborhood and encountered a woman walking three dogs off-leash in the street. According to a spokesperson for the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s station, Charvet swerved to avoid the dogs when they ran in front of his truck, but one of the dogs was struck and killed. The spokesperson stated that Charvet remained on the scene and called police to report the accident. Charvet’s representative confirmed to Page Six that the actor “remained at the scene until authorities arrived” and emphasized that he “is an animal lover and responsible dog owner who would never intentionally harm an animal.” The representative added that Charvet slowed his vehicle and moved to the side to pass safely when one of the dogs moved under the truck, after which he immediately stopped, called 911, and fully cooperated with the investigation. Fox News reported that law enforcement confirmed they responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a dog, with both parties present when officers arrived. The dog’s owner took the animal for medical attention, but the dog later died. Authorities stated they are not treating the incident as a hit-and-run. The Mercury News identified the dog as Sunday, an 11-year-old English Labrador belonging to neighbor Vera Errico. Errico claimed all three dogs were on leashes at the time, though Charvet and the sheriff’s station maintain the dogs were off-leash. Errico told the outlet that Charvet hit her dog and drove away before contacting police, though authorities have disputed this characterization of the event. Despite the conflicting accounts, multiple law enforcement sources have indicated the incident is being investigated as an accident rather than a hit-and-run. Charvet, best known for his role as Matt Brody on “Baywatch” and Craig Field on “Melrose Place,” has not issued a public statement beyond referring inquiries to his representative. He transitioned from acting to residential contracting after his television career, becoming a partner in the Jones Builders Group in Los Angeles.
