Bethlehem Central Support Staff Drive Collects for Local Animal Shelters
The Bethlehem Central United Employees Association (BCUEA) is currently hosting a donation drive to benefit several Capital Region animal shelters and rescue organizations. Collection boxes are located in all district schools, and donations will be accepted through Thursday, April 2nd.
Donation Needs
The BCUEA is seeking the following items:
- Dog food
- Cat food
- Toys (recent or used)
- Treats and peanut butter
- Leashes
- Food dishes
- Collars (new or used)
- Paper towels
- Cloth towels
- Gift cards to PetSmart or Amazon
Beneficiary Organizations
Donated goods and gift cards will be distributed to the following local organizations:
- Free to Be Me Rescue
- Kitten Angels Rescue
- Mohawk Hudson Humane Society
- Out of the Pits Rescue
- Peppertree Rescue
- Heaven Sent Rescue
- Animal Protective Foundation
The BCUEA represents the support staff within the Bethlehem Central School District. This initiative, dubbed “Have a Heart for Homeless Animals,” builds on a successful drive held last month, which collected a record number of items for area shelters, as highlighted on the school district’s Instagram page.
BCUEA Meeting Dates
The BCUEA also announced its general membership and Board of Directors (BOD) meeting dates for the 2026/2027 school year:
- September 3rd (Opening Day) – General Membership Meeting (5-6pm)
- October 20th – General Membership Meeting
- January 15th – General Membership Meeting (5:00-5:15pm) followed by NYSUT Retirement Benefits meeting
- May 21st – VOTING
- August 28th – BOD Meeting
- October 8th – BOD Meeting (with Building Rep – training)
- December 10th – BOD Meeting
- February 11th – BOD Meeting (canceled)
- April 8th – BOD Meeting (with Building Rep)
- June 10th – BOD Meeting (with new officers present)
