Beijing Hyundai, a joint venture between Hyundai Motor and China’s BAIC Motor, has officially launched the Ioniq V electric sedan in China with a starting promotional price of 99,900 yuan. The vehicle represents the first production model introduced under Hyundai’s dedicated Ioniq electric vehicle brand in the Chinese market since its rollout earlier this year.
Pricing Structure and Market Positioning
The Beijing Hyundai Ioniq V enters the market with a special limited-time promotional pricing structure ranging from 99,900 yuan (about USD) to 131,900 yuan (about USD) across five available variants. Following the promotional period, the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices will range from 109,900 yuan (about USD) up to 139,900 yuan (about USD). Buyers during the launch window qualify for direct price reductions between 8,000 yuan and 10,000 yuan depending on the chosen trim.
During its initial pre-sale phase at the Chengdu Auto Show in August, the entry price for the Ioniq V was initially pegged at 119,900 yuan. The official market rollout expanded the lineup by adding the 540 Pro entry-level model and the 650 Max long-range model. Combined with the launch discounts, the revised entry price sits 20,000 yuan lower than the initial pre-sale floor.
Platform Architecture and Powertrain Specifications
The Ioniq V is the production evolution of the Venus Concept vehicle first shown at the Beijing Auto Show in April. Designed under the supervision of Hyundai’s China design studio, the mid-size fastback sedan features frameless doors and measures 4,900 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,470 mm in height, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase.
Underneath the bodywork, the sedan utilizes Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and supports an 800-volt fast-charging architecture. The powertrain consists of single-motor configurations delivering either 140 kW or 168 kW of peak power. Energy storage relies on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs supplied by CATL in capacities of 53.48 kWh and 66.85 kWh, delivering CLTC-rated driving ranges of 540 km and 650 km.
Cabin Technology and Driver Assistance Systems
Inside the cabin, the Ioniq V features a 27-inch 4K display screen powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295P chipset, alongside an integrated head-up display. The vehicle’s infotainment software incorporates artificial intelligence models, utilizing Baidu’s Ernie Bot and ByteDance’s Doubao.
For driver assistance, Beijing Hyundai equipped the model with an L2+ autonomous driving system developed in partnership with Momenta. The suite includes highway navigation assistance, memory-based navigation support for urban environments, and automated parking functions.
