Nashville, TN – The Belmont Bruins secured a hard-fought 78-74 victory over the valparaiso Beacons on Tuesday night, fueled by a strong performance from Jabez Jenkins adn a game-winning layup from Drew Scharnowski with just 11 seconds left on the clock.The win boosts Belmont’s record to 16-3 overall and 6-2 in Missouri Valley Conference play, while Valparaiso falls to 8-10 with a 2-5 conference record.
Jenkins led the Bruins with 17 points, shooting an efficient 8-of-12 from the field. Eoin dillon contributed 12 points, connecting on 5 of his 7 shot attempts, and Jack Smiley added 11 points to the Belmont offense.
The Beacons were paced by Owen Dease, who delivered a standout performance with 24 points. Rakim Chaney provided valuable support with 17 points and four assists, and Brody Whitaker chipped in with 11 points for Valparaiso.
