Bentley unveils Torcal, its first pure electric vehicle

Bentley Motors unveiled the Torcal on September 24, 2026, marking the historic British luxury marque’s first-ever pure electric vehicle and introducing a controversial new design language. Measuring five meters in length, the Torcal is manufactured in Crewe and combines an 800-volt electrical architecture with a usable battery capacity of 113 kWh, delivering up to 600 kilometers of driving range under the WLTP cycle.

Design and Architecture of Bentley’s First EV

The Bentley Torcal establishes a distinct visual direction that the manufacturer confirmed will influence upcoming models across all powertrain types. The exterior features an illuminated diamond-pattern grille, split front headlights, and horizontally oriented rear light clusters. Bentley deliberately reduced body lines to emphasize muscular rear fenders and clean surface proportions. The vehicle rolls on 21- to 22-inch wheels. Measuring five meters long, the Torcal is 13.4 centimeters shorter than the combustion-engined Bentayga SUV, yet it retains a strong stance.

Inside the cabin, Bentley installed a digital instrument cluster alongside a curved central infotainment display, paired with an augmented reality head-up display and facial recognition software. Notably, Bentley opted against including a passenger-side screen, arguing that such technology does not add genuine value to the vehicle. The cabin provides a rear luggage capacity of 460 liters supplemented by a 90-liter front trunk, known as a frunk. Audio performance is driven by a standard 16-speaker system, while a 28-speaker setup is available as an option. The Torcal also features a unique driving sound tuned with the assistance of an orchestra.

Performance Specs and Dual-Motor Variants

Bentley offers the Torcal in two all-wheel-drive configurations utilizing dual permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors. The base variant produces 604 kW (821 horsepower) and 1,194 Nm of torque, enabling a zero-to-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. The performance-focused Torcal S raises output to 653 kW (888 horsepower) and 1,350 Nm of torque, achieving the sprint in 2.9 seconds utilizing launch control, with a top speed of 260 km/h. According to the manufacturer, engineers capped acceleration limits to maintain passenger comfort, avoiding the extreme forces found in rivals like the Tesla Model S Plaid.

Charging Capabilities and Battery Warranty

Both Torcal variants draw power from a 113 kWh usable traction battery supported by an 800-volt electrical system. The setup allows for direct-current fast charging at speeds up to 400 kW, replenishing the battery from 10 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes. Under optimal conditions, motorists can recover roughly 160 kilometers of range in seven minutes of charging. Bentley backs the battery pack with a warranty covering 10 years or 160,000 kilometers.

Pricing and Market Availability

Production takes place at Bentley’s facility in Crewe with support from a nationwide British supply chain. While comprehensive international pricing and market launch schedules remain unconfirmed by the manufacturer, the UK market starts at £173,300.
