German Doctor Charged in Telegram Chat Group Case Involving Sexual Assaults

A 32-year-old medical graduate from China is on trial in Berlin, accused of aiding and abetting particularly serious rape and grievous bodily harm. The charges stem from his alleged involvement in a Telegram chat group where members exchanged information about sexual crimes, specifically rape after sedation.

Details of the Case

Prosecutors allege that the man was one of eight members in a Telegram chat group established in early 2024. The group served as a platform for discussing and sharing details related to serious sexual offenses against women, including rape following the administration of sedatives. Following an attempted rape livestreamed by another group member, the defendant is accused of providing advice and information about sedatives from his Berlin apartment.

The indictment states that the defendant was aware another chat member was planning further acts of rape and, a day later, that member allegedly drugged, tied up and raped a woman in her apartment.

Additional Charges

In a separate charge, the defendant faces accusations of sexually assaulting a woman in China multiple times between July 2019 and July 2021, sometimes with the help of accomplices. The indictment claims the woman was unconscious or asleep during these assaults, and the defendant filmed the attacks.

Current Status and Trial Schedule

The 32-year-old has been in custody since September 2025. The trial, which began in the Berlin district court, is scheduled to continue with six more days of hearings through May 20th. It initially remained unclear whether the man would comment on the allegations.
