Woman Accused of DWI After Running Over Body at Bexar County Crash Scene

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A 26-year-vintage woman, Tionne Spears, is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving under the influence and running over a man’s body at a crash scene in west Bexar County late Friday evening. The incident occurred at State Highway 211 and Lambda Drive, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Initial Crash and Victim

The incident began when a 61-year-old man was walking along State Highway 211. He was initially struck by a vehicle’s side mirror, causing him to fall into the roadway. A second driver, unable to react in time, then ran over the man, resulting in his death at the scene. Both drivers involved in the initial collision remained at the scene and are not expected to face charges, as authorities do not suspect wrongdoing on their part .

Driving Through the Crime Scene

While deputies were investigating the initial crash and had secured the scene with barricades, Spears allegedly drove through the barriers and ran over the man’s body. She also nearly struck two investigators who were working at the scene .

Charges and Evidence

Spears was taken into custody and booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center. She faces three charges: driving while intoxicated (DWI), abuse of a corpse and possession of a controlled substance (penalty group two, between 1 and 4 grams) . Authorities also found Spears to be in possession of khat, a stimulant plant native to Africa, which Sheriff Javier Salazar noted “ups their pain tolerance” . An intoxilyzer test will be conducted to determine the extent of Spears’s intoxication.

Sheriff’s Statement

Sheriff Javier Salazar expressed his disbelief at the incident, stating, “I’ve been doing this job 33 years now and never heard of somebody barreling through a crime scene like that and running over a dead body that’s already on the roadway” .

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
