#15/18 Maine Black Bears Shut Out Lindenwood 5-0
ORONO, Maine – The #15/18 University of Maine menS ice hockey team defeated Lindenwood University 5-0 on Saturday night at a sold-out Alfond Arena. The Black Bears were led by a three-point performance from Justin Poirier and a 28-save shutout by goaltender Albin Boija.
Charlie Russell opened the scoring for Maine at 4:16 of the frist period, followed quickly by a goal from Sully Scholle less then three minutes later. Maine capitalized on the power play, scoring three consecutive goals – one by Poirier late in the second period and another early in the third, extending the led to 4-0. Lukas peterson capped off the scoring with his first career goal just 31 seconds after Poirier’s second, making the final score 5-0.
