The situation in the energy system of Ukraine

On February 7, Russian invaders once again dealt a massive blow to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

In particular, due to the attack by the invaders, the work of the Burshtyn Thermal Power Plant in the Ivano-Frankivsk region was stopped. The object received significant damage. In Burshtyn itself there are problems with heating and water.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that the situation in the energy system remains very difficult. It is especially difficult in Kyiv, where consumers receive electricity only for one and a half to two hours. The coming days will be difficult, energy experts say:

“Due to damage to high-voltage substations, nuclear power plants were forced to unload. Now emergency shutdowns continue to operate in most regions. The loss of power as a result of the overnight attack has created an additional significant electricity shortage, which is extremely difficult to cover, so the coming days will be difficult.”
