ROSÉ Returns With Garage-Punk Solo Single New Trick
ROSÉ has returned with her first solo music of 2026, releasing the energetic single and music video for “New Trick” on Friday. The track blends garage-punk, pop-rock, and alt-pop elements while focusing on emotional recovery and the resolve to move forward, x95radio.com reported. The release follows her 2024 debut solo album, rosie, and arrives as fellow BLACKPINK members pursue individual projects.
Production and Garage-Punk Sound
Amy Allen and Andrew Wells co-produced “New Trick.” Allen previously co-wrote ROSÉ’s 2024 global hit “APT.” The new track marks a stylistic shift away from the introspective and melancholic songwriting that defined much of ROSÉ’s debut album. ROSÉ explained to Vogue that she wrote the song shortly after the Met Gala during a particularly busy week, describing the collaboration as “possibly the cutest thing we’ve ever made together.”
iPhone 18 Pro Music Video Production
Dave Meyers directed the accompanying music video, which was created as part of Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” campaign and filmed entirely using the iPhone 18 Pro. Meyers brings a high-profile background to the project, having previously directed music videos for Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Ariana Grande. The visual features ROSÉ in a playful, summery setting performing with a band and spending time at a skatepark, matching the upbeat tone of the song.
Solo Projects Across BLACKPINK
“New Trick” joins a growing catalog of recent solo output from ROSÉ outside of her rosie LP, including “Messy” from F1: The Movie and “On My Mind,” a collaboration with Alex Warren. Meanwhile, other BLACKPINK members continue their respective solo rollouts. Lisa is currently preparing her upcoming Press Play EP, and Jisoo recently released her single “Click.”
