“Blessed Banquet” Aims too Bring Families Together This Thanksgiving

In times of societal turbulence, the special “Blessed Banquet” emerges as a television offering designed to unite families, spark conversation, and revive a sense of community. This Thanksgiving special on TeleOnce, produced by young talents from Ponce under the guidance of Father Orlando Lugo, blends comedy, emotion, and a profound message.

“Blessed Banquet” will premiere on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 7:00 pm on TeleOnce.

The special originated from a partnership between the channel and the Neighborhood Foundation, established in Ponce alongside professors from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, to provide opportunities for talented young individuals wiht limited access to the media. Father Orlando explained that his pastoral work revealed this untapped potential.

“As a priest, I realized that there are humble young people, with a lot of talent, who do not have this access to the media. And this foundation gives them the chance to create,” said Lugo, who leads the Santísimo Sacramento Parish in Ponce’s Lirios del Sur neighborhood. “The idea came from TeleOnce, but the concept itself stemmed from these young people who participated in a ‘Liderarte’ camp during the summer, which is a school for producers.”

Although initially hesitant to be central to the plot, Father Orlando was persuaded by the reminder that his role represented an entire community – a realization that deeply resonated with him.Upon accepting, he refined the script and introduced the young creators to classic Puerto Rican comedy models like “Los García,” “Los Kakukómicos,” and “En casa de Juanma y Wiwi,” inspiring them to develop a similar concept.
